Dry Needling

Trigger Point Dry Needling

Functional Dry Needling is a technique used to release tight muscle bands associated with trigger points or dysfunctional muscles that cause pain. Functional Dry Needling (FDN) uses acupuncture size needles to stimulate a neurological response in the muscle by activating the motor neuron. This treatment utilizes a thin solid filament needle to deactivate and desensitize the trigger points in muscles. Functional dry needling can also be used to facilitate dysfunctional muscles by applying electric current directly into the tissue.

Questions?
We’ve got answers.

Conditions that may benefit from FDN can include repetitive stress injuries, muscle tendonitis, neck pain, headaches, rotator cuff impingement, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, sciatica, muscle strains, IT band syndrome, patellofemoral dysfunction, plantar fascistic and more. If active trigger points or dysfunction in the muscle group are found to be causing the pain or weakness, muscle tightness and/or muscle weakness then Dry Needling would be a good option.

Functional Dry Needling does use similar needles that acupuncturist use and some acupuncturist use the technique of dry needling. But with dry needling, the needles targeting specific muscles to deactivate trigger points or stimulate dysfunctional muscles that are causing pain.

We provide treatment alongside education about your condition to help manage your current injury and to prevent future injuries.

Most patients don’t feel the insertion of the needle. Remember, these needles are 0.25mm wide. That’s one fourth the size of a sewing needle.

However, patients may experience a twitch response when the needles are inserted. This local twitch response elicits a very brief cramping and/or deep aching sensation. While the needle is inserted, it might recreate your pain or may refer to other areas of the body. The twitch response and referred pain is actually a good and desirable reaction because it helps confirm a source of dysfunction.

Wet” needling would involve a hollow needle used to deliver a medical substance like saline, corticosteroids or anesthetics. Dry Needling is the use of a solid thin filament needle that does not use any injectable or medical substance.

Best Chiropractor experience I’ve ever had. All the staff is so friendly and helpful. The doctors really take the time to figure out the problem and make a treatment plan. He even gave me things to do at home to maintain the treatment I received in office.

The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. Dr. Bradley is also very good at addressing the issues with your spine and coming up with an effective treatment plan. I also wanted to say that I continued to go here and they’ve helped me with multiple issues. I’ll come there as long as they let me.

I was having serious back pain due to a sports related injury. I was having a hard time sleeping through the night, getting in and out of the car, and more generally speaking living my life. Simply put, I was in a ton of pain. Dr. Bradley was able to bring me back to where I was pre-injury and helped me continue to live an active lifestyle pain free. I cannot recommend this place enough.

My experience with Comprehensive Chiropractic has been wonderful in every way. From the front desk team member to my clinical care, I have felt valued, listened to, respected, and cared for. My needs are being met and my car accident pain has substantially subsided due to the gentle and cautious approach to the dry needling that I have received. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

This is a great practice, they were able to get me feeling better after my first visit. Over a month into treatment and my back is feeling better than it’s felt in years. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and I appreciate the laid back environment. Would definitely recommend this practice if you’ve been in need of chiropractic care.

Moving here from NM. I've enjoyed adjustments from Palmer grads and both Drs Roxy and Brad are very good. Both take the time to listen and take care of what is needed. Looking forward to more adjustments as we transition in our move. Both of us have needed our backs worked on and my wife has needed treatment that includes Dry Needling. I think it's helping! Thanks!

Dr. Knox really knows his stuff. I've been to a number of different chiropractors over the years, and I've never encountered one who is more on top of the latest techniques and technology like Dr. Knox is. I suffered a pretty nasty herniated disc in my lumbar spine 3 weeks ago that left me barely able to stand, let alone walk. With Dr. Knox's help I'm pretty much back to normal now, and he is continuing to help me get stronger. I can't recommend this place enough.
